About FIRST® and FIRST Robotics Competition
FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) is a competition developed by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) to promote engineering and involve teens in an opportunity to learn by having a real world experience. In a remodel of conventional sports, teams not only compete in matches with one another, but enter the incredible world of engineering and problem solving by building a robot specialized to complete the year’s challenge. In yet another contrast to conventional sports, FIRST encourages teams to aid one another, exhibiting “gracious professionalism”. One way of doing this being the use of alliances. Teams not only compete with one another, but must work together (alliances) to efficiently reach a common goal. Challenges vary, but the idea is always the same: Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.

Speaking of challenges, this year’s challenge is *drumroll* …Stronghold!

In the 2016 challenge, Stronghold, alliances aim to breach the opponent's outer works, weaken their tower with boulders, and capture it .
